Dr John Onyi Agaba, a former aspirant for the Cross River North Senatorial District seat, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and expressed support for the incumbent senator, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, ahead of the 2027 general election.

Agaba made his position known when Senator Jarigbe paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja. The meeting followed the APC senatorial primary for Cross River North, where several aspirants contested for the party’s ticket before some subsequently withdrew and endorsed Jarigbe.

The aspirants included Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, Barr. Cecilia Adams, Dr John Onyi Agaba and the incumbent, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe. According to reports, Ipuele, Adams and Agaba later withdrew from the contest and endorsed Jarigbe, citing party unity and continuity in representation.

"My position is clear. I remain fully committed and loyal to the APC in Cross River State. At the same time, I am throwing my full support behind Senator Jarigbe. His visit demonstrates that politics should be practised with maturity, respect and brotherhood beyond unnecessary divisions," Agaba said.

Responding, Senator Jarigbe thanked Agaba for the reception and described him as a respected leader and stakeholder whose support was important to the APC in Cross River North.
